Earlier this year I did an internal presentation to my colleagues at Pentest Ltd on the topic of Malware Analysis and Intelligence Recon. The presentation was a high level overview of Trickbot and an analysis of what actually happens when malware is executed on a machine. I also examined the whole ecosystem around the production and spread of Malware and the cost involved for the criminals who peddle such services online.
Fast forward to May 2020 and I was happy to accept an invitation to present my research to the OWASP Newcastle chapter online. It's not a super technical talk - instead focusing on the techniques used to examine the malware also to provide further understanding in how we can leverage the information found to generate some threat intelligence recon.
